The fall has become the most popular season for weddings here in Pittsburgh, and weddings like Katie and Ricky’s make it easy to see why. Their stunning wedding featured wonderful fall weather, the beautiful Heinz Chapel and Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall, and of course, a magnificent bride and groom. Katie and Ricky compliment each other perfectly, and are a joy to be around. We were ecstatic when they chose us to capture their big day.
Katie and her bridesmaids got ready at the Holiday Inn in Oakland. Even amongst chaotic preparations, the kindness and love of her family and friends shone through loud and clear – they are a great group. This was a theme that echoed throughout the day. Family is obviously very important to Katie and Ricky – Ricky’s brother was his best man and his sister-in-law was Katie’s maid of honor, which lent an extra feeling of family unity to the proceedings.
As expected, Ricky and his groomsmen totally worked it for pictures outside of Heinz Chapel before heading inside for their ceremony. After the ceremony we traveled the Oakland area and Pitt campus for bridal party pictures, and even got a chance to use the PNC Merry Go Round (AMAZING!). These two were troopers and were up for anything and everything. Soldiers and Sailors’ grand stature never fails to impress, and Katie and Ricky’s reception was extra special with heartfelt toasts and an extra rowdy dance floor. Thank you, Katie and Ricky, for letting us be part of your day!
